THIS IS ONE OF THE LETTERS RECEIVED TODAY 1/18/24
.... I'm currently sitting in a cell in the William P. Hobby Unit in Marlin ,Texas . The city of Marlin is on a water shortage due to the Water Tower not having any water because of the freeze which froze some pipes. The unit water has been shut off and we are forced to use the bathroom in our cells with no way to flush . So we are sitting in these cells with no water and sewage in our toilets. They have portable restrooms set up on the unit for us to use but the officer's working in the building that houses the G4 offenders refuse to allow them to go to the restroom. We are stuck in our cells for over 23 hours everyday. We haven't showered since Sunday. Many women I'm currently housed with are on their monthly cycle and this is inhumane and very unsanitary. This facility's staff have no compassion and constantly demonstrates an obvious disregard for the females that currently have to reside in prison . The living conditions I'm currently forced to live in aren't good enough to make a dog stay in.... The house of representatives ,senate ,etc can't possibly be aware of how the tax payers money is being wasted by TDCJ.

2ND LETTER RECIEVED TODAY 1/18/24
morning friend, its nuts here in central Texas, a lil cold weather and pipes start busting in falls county. the prison had to cut our water off, the portable potties are so nasty, getting to use them is so hard. This entire unit smells like poop. I work daily, and have to wash off with a water bottle. Years ago this unit was closed down due to the men, grieving things, so we females shouldn't be here. pray this gets fixed.

DEAR STATE OF TEXAS AND ALL ELECTED OFFICIALS
"Urgent Plea for Immediate Action:Addressing Inhumane Conditions in Texas Prisons!
We stand with the incarcerated individuals who have been voiceless for far too long. It is imperative that the State of Texas, Governor, TDCJ Administration, and fellow citizens take notice and address the ongoing issues that are plaguing our prison system.
Right now, on the William P. Hobby Unit in Marlin, Texas, prisoners are enduring unbearable circumstances. Due to a water shortage caused by frozen pipes, inmates have been without water for five days. They are forced to use toilets that cannot be flushed, resulting in sewage and unsanitary living conditions. Furthermore, despite the provision of portable restrooms, officers in the building housing G4 offenders are denying access to these facilities, leaving inmates confined to their cells for over 23 hours a day.
The situation is dire. Women housed in this facility are facing additional challenges, including a lack of hygiene and sanitary supplies for those currently on their menstrual cycle. This treatment is not only inhumane but also unacceptable.
We implore the House of Representatives, Senate, and all elected officials to be aware of how taxpayer money is being wasted by TDCJ. These funds should be allocated for ensuring the well-being, safety , and dignity of all incarcerated individuals. It is high time for immediate action and reform.
To the prisoners who have used this platform to raise their voices, we hear you. We will not rest until your concerns are heard, acknowledged, and addressed. Together, let us fight for a prison system that upholds humanity and justice.
